Elder law involves putting a plan in place for issues that may arise due to aging.

Our attorneys can assist you and your family to create an arrangement for navigating elder law issues including, but not limited to:

  • MassHealth applications (Medicare) and eligibility
  • Paying for long-term care and nursing home care
  • Nursing home and personal care contracts
  • Veteran’s services
  • Physical or mental incapacity
  • Guardianship
  • Protecting your home
  • Retirement
  • Illness
  • Probate Administration

Paying for Nursing Home Care

Both Medicare and Medicaid may help pay for nursing home care. Other long term care planning services may also be available such as the Frail Elder Waiver and the Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) . Each program has specific and sometimes complex eligibility requirements.

Working with an elder law attorney, a plan can be created to maximize the benefits of available programs.  For an overview of requirements, read Medicare / Medicaid Eligibility.

When to Seek Advice

Individuals and families of aging parents often seek the services of an elder law attorney in advance of needing long-term care services.  When the need for nursing home care is imminent, contact us as soon as possible.

Our attorneys know the solutions to make sure resources are available for the individual entering a nursing home, the care of a spouse remaining at home, and a disabled child or loved one.
